Through the Khorana scholarship, Nila will be working in the University of Washington, a university that is ranked 13th in the world on the 2017 Academic Ranking of World Universities. She will be working in the Department of Pathology in UW’s School of Medicine.
Although Nila intends to switch fields to genetics in the future, she chose this Integrated program at UoH due to the coursework of the first two years being entirely shared with students from other pure science majors because of which she would get a lot more exposure to mathematics, physics, and chemistry than what she would have got in a traditional B.Sc course.
In the last four years, Nila has done summer research internships at ICGEB (New Delhi), IIIT Hyderabad, and the University of Madras, under Dr. Amit Sharma, Dr. Deva Priyakumar, and Prof. A. K. Munirajan, respectively.
