Include Act to prevent atrocities on SCs & STs under 9th Schedule

​Parigi:  Various Dalit groups on Tuesday staged protest programme against the SC verdict on legislation pertaining to prohibition of SC and ST atrocities and demanded that it be included under the Ninth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

They condemned violence flared up in the country as part of observing the Bharat Bandh and staged a rasta roko in front of the bus stand here.  They demanded payment of ex-gratia to those who died in the disturbances on the issue. 

Referring to the apex court ruling on the legislation, the dalit groups described the decision as a victimization measure. Besides the Dalit groups, CPM and YSRCP and T-Mass leaders took part in the rasta roko.
