Rhino lovers visit zooH

Bahadurpura: Two conservationists Julian Boruah and Adam Gezgin who are on a nationwide tour on a bike to save the one horn Rhinoceros landed in Hyderabad and headed to the Nehru Zoological Park here on Thursday.  The duo started their journey from Guwahati on March 15 to promote the campaign on one horn Rhinoceros and fight against poaching.

A large number of visitors gathered at the Rhinoceros enclosure and they were briefed about the conservation status of Rhinoceros. Speaking on the occasion with the visitors explained that one horn Rhinoceros is an endangered species and is endemic to Kaziranga National park, Assam.

About 2,480 Rhinoceros are seen in Kaziranga National Park according to the latest census. Rhinoceros is the second largest land mammal after elephants and are poached because of its horn.

It is estimated that in International market the value of one Rhino horn is Rs 5 crore.  So far, they covered 29 states and about 25,000 kms. Till date they travelled through Assam, West Bengal, Jharkand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and now we are in Telangana State. From Hyderabad, they will move to Chennai.
