Police arrest Cong leaders, BJP activists

Malkajgiri: Malkajgiri police on Friday arrested Congress leaders and activists anticipating trouble during the visit of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao to Malkajgiri for launching road under bridge works. Among the arrested were GD Srinivas Goud, Venkatesh Yadav, Mohan, MD Gaffor, BK Srinivas and Santhu.

The police also arrested several BJP leaders and activists, who claimed that they were not planning to stop KTR, but were celebrating the party formation day. The arrested staged a dharna in the police station raising slogans against the police. The arrest was illegal, said Medchal distrtict party president Kantha Rao.  Among those present were Ravi Yadav, Srinivas, Rajalakshmi, Vadde Subba Rao, Mohanraj, Gopu Ramana Reddy, Anand, Sada, Balu Singh, Venkatesh.
