Collector stresses significance of fisheries development scheme

Tandur:  District Collector Sayyed Omar Jaleel on Monday said that the state government has been implementing integrated fisheries development programme with crores of funds from fishermen’s cooperatives. 

As part of the programme, equipment for catching fish and fishlings would be issued. The fishermen would be assisted in marketing and processing of of marine products  besides improvement of infrastructure development. He also said that training would be provided to fishermen in skill improvement.  Fishermen can apply either singly or in groups to derive benefit under the scheme, he said.  Revenue divisional officer Venu Madhav , Fisheries development officer Rajani and others were present.  The officials cleared doubts of fishermen about the scheme.
