Live streaming makes this crematorium different

Whisper Valley: Ever since Mahaprasthanam started on March 30, 2015, the crematorium has made it possible for several families to unite though in distress, thanks to live streaming of the whole process of final rites. 

• The graveyard is spread over 3.5 acres and was constructed with a budget of Rs 3 Crore
• The facilities include wi-fi, shower bathrooms, lockers and an electric crematorium
• There is space for parking 75 cars 
• Van facility to transport the body from home or hospital to the Crematorium on request

Rajkumar, manager, Mahaprasthanam says, “On an average 15 cremations take place and we are making all efforts to provide the best facilities as we know people are in a very sad state when they come here.” 
Arvind, a software employee said ‘We have not used the live streaming as my brother landed in Hyderabad in time but just the thought that the facility is available is good to know’. 

What makes the crematorium different is the easy access as no fee is collected and the trustees and members pitch. People who want to donate are given a certificate.  Many well-known personalities have been buried here such as P Narayana Reddy who was a famous writer in the city, Rajeshwar Rao who was a minister and Srikanth a cricketer. 

Rajkumar said, “Many people in the age group of 60-80 spend time reading the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana before and after the rituals in the library.  Recently two cows were brought in and people offer prayers. There are waiting rooms and special bathrooms for women and men and special music related to funeral service is available. Also there is a provision of providing lunch for 100 persons. Ramesh, a resident of Whisper Valley said, “The Phoenix Foundation and the GHMC is doing a good job and people are greatly benefitted.”
