ATMs run dry again

Kukatpally/Vivekananda Nagar: Downed shutters and no cash boards displaying ATMs greet people in Kukatpally and its adjoining areas. Earlier this year the ATMs went dry when the news of Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FDRI) bill was making the rounds, this time around bankers have been blaming the Telangana government’s social schemes for lack of cash.

Muralidharan, a resident of Kukatpally said, “I visited eight ATMs since morning but there was no cash. Bank officials say that they could do nothing as they are not receiving adequate cash.” Another resident, Sridhar Rao of Vivekananda Nagar said, “A Canara Bank ATM had no cash for the last three days.”  There are close to ten ATMs on Kukatpally to Vivekananda Nagar stretch but there is no cash in the ATMs.
