CPI to organise Jail Bharo in Telangana on April 16
Osmania University: Prime Minister Narendra Modi duped people of Andhra Pradesh in implementing assurances made at the time of AP bifurcation into Telangana and AP. Modi who promised to implement the assurance prior to last elections later conveniently ignored them, alleges CPI national secretary K Narayana.
Addressing a seminar on “Assurances given at the time of bifurcation – Special status for AP”, held under the AISF’s aegis, at OU’s ICSSR Hall here on Thursday, he noted that the BJP which felt that the loss to AP could be bridged with special status alone is not implementing at least one issue in spite of the BJP is in power at the Center.
Venkaiah Naidu who demanded special status for AP for 10 years is now doing precious little in spite of becoming vice-president, he said. Chief Ministers of Telugu States, who vowed to fight for the special status, not hesitating toapproach Modi, he lamented. On TDP withdrawing support to the BJP after four-years of bonhomie with the saffron party, he described it as couple opting for divorce in old age.
CPI Telangana secretary Chada Venkata Reddy said that no national project status has been accorded to Pranahita-Chevella LI Scheme, division of Hyderabad High Court is yet to take place. Distribution ofemployees between the Telugu states is still incomplete. He declared that a jail bharo would be organised on April 16 in Telangana to achieve the special status.
Telangana JAC chairman Prof Kodandaram said that the TJAC submitted reports to the Center on development of Telugu states, but the Center ignored them. He called for decentralization of administration in Andhra Pradesh unlike in Telangana. AISF Telangana State Universities’ in-charge RN Sankar presided.
