Meeting puts number of street children in Hyd at 28K
Musheerabad: Social activist Rama Melkote has put the total number of street children in Hyderabad over 28,000 and apprehended that their number might to up even further in view of the farmer suicides. She was taking part in a round table held at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram here on Thursday in connection with the International Day for Children in street situations.
The round table has been organised under the joint aegis of Rainbow Homes Program, Rainbow Foundation of India and Balyamitra Network. She expressed concern over the failure of state and central governments in checking the problem of street menace.
The round table was attended by leaders of various civil society organisations. The meeting discussed over the measures that the governments should initiate to considerably reduce the problem of the street children.
