Minority girls advised to emulate meritorious women

Vikarabad: District Collector Sayyed Omar Jaleel on Thursday said that the state government has been striving hard to provide good education to minority students.  

He was participating as chief guest in the first anniversary celebrations of the residential schools for girls at Sivareddypet near here. He said that minority girls used to did not venture out of their homes for education. The state government set up residential schools for minority girls also to enable them to pursue good education, he said.  He called upon minorities’ girl students to emulate women belonging to their community who have occupied coveted positions.

He promised to set up two schools for minority students in Tandur. Besides increasing the status of primary schools to that of high schools, proposals to set up junior and degree colleges would be submitted to the government.   Special coaching would be given to 50 students during the current summer in various aspects, he said.  

A modern park would be set up near Sivareddypeta tank in an area of over 60 acres, he said.  He asked the school teachers to strive to increase student enrolment rate. Local legislator B Sanjiva Rao urged the district collector to provide suitable site for the residential school for minority girls. Students presented various cultural programmes on the occasion. District collector honoured students who achieved 100 per cent attendance and good results.
