Miyapur: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been spending crores of rupees on road development yet many areas falling under west zone including Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Motinagar, Miyapur ,Kondapur and Bachupally have bad roads.

Commuters taking these routes have been irked with damaged roads besides facing risks while manoeuvring around potholes. The commuters claimed that the roads are left in unfinished states after repair works are taken up causing travellers and pedestrians inconvenience.

One commuter on anonymity said the roads do not have any barricades or warning signboards warning commuters about the works. The GHMC dug up roads and left without clearing the debris. The roads then become prone to fatal accidents. Speaking to The Hans India, Muralidhar resident of Miyapur said, "There are many accidents reported in and around these areas due to bad roads, not the fatal ones, but small accidents.

Nearly 15 per cent of the accidents in the city happen due to bad roads. All the departments have been digging roads whether for metro work or pipeline or cable line, but after the completion of work, the roads are left unfinished, said one Ganesh, resident of Kukatpally. There is no proper planning to repair the road after completion of the work. The debris is left unattended on the roads which is dangerous for commuters and pedestrians. There is no proper planning in repairing the roads either, Ganesh added.

“Even if they are digging the road, they should inform the traffic police so that the traffic can be diverted to a different route. Also, without a signboard, the road becomes very dangerous at night," said one Kuljeet Singh (IT employee) Kondapur. Commuters said that the GHMC officials have been turning a blind eye towards the pot holes on Motinagar and Kukatpally roads which are like death traps for commuters.
