Bad state of Kukatpally bus stops

Update: 2018-04-20 11:43 IST

Kukatpally: The bus bays under west zone are either in dilapidated state or non-existent causing commuters’ severe inconvenience. Earlier, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up works but stopped it abruptly due to unknown reasons. Passengers waiting to board a bus are forced to run for distance as the buses cannot stop on serrated roads.

Both the bus stops at Kukatpally, are in dilapidated state. Also, it is causing problem to the bike riders and pedestrians. They find that it takes more time to reach their destiny than the usual days because of the bad roads. The bus stop does not have any barricades or warning signboards to caution people that the construction is happening or work in progress. The workers have left the ongoing work and kept it like that, it has chances for extreme accidents for the commuters.

Hari Chandana the west zone commissioner said, “Anything which is making difficult for the pedestrians will not be ignored, shortly we will start working on the roads and get it rectified.” K Sathyaiah, Kukatpally traffic inspector said, “The work was started with the aim of constructing good road so that the pedestrians and the people at bus stop can have good facilities. If the works are in progress, the GHMC workers should inform the traffic police so that we can add the signboard at the roads to take different route. And thus, the traffic can be diverted to a different route.”

Harini, a girl waiting at bus stop said, “This is my daily route and often I board buses from this area at Kukatpally but never there has been a good road, either they are cracked or under construction. I only want the GHMC workers to complete the works started. Doing work improperly makes no sense. People will be happy if the works are completed as soon as possible.”
