GHMC to make elaborate arrangements for Ramzan
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is making elaborate arrangements for the ensuing Ramzan in the south and east zones. Arrangements have already been made for improving the facilities at popular mosques and Eidgahs across the twin cities.
GHMC allotted about Rs 47 lakh for all the developmental, repair and restoration works in various circles at mosques and Eidgahs. Approach roads leading to mosques, Eidgahs will be improved as part of the arrangements, pot holes will be filled with a special BT vehicle, manhole covers be replaced and removal of road cutting waste, road restoration works will be taken up.
Similarly, zonal officials were instructed to provide a proposal of works needed in the particular zone or area. A temporary pandal had been erected at Mecca Masjid with a cost of Rs 10.50 lakh, Rs 5.10 lakh sanctioned for repairing of toilets and Rs 55,000 sanctioned for maintenance of toilets. On the other hand, Rs 150 lakh sanctioned for temporary lighting wherever required at mosques / Eidgahs in addition to regular maintenance. Moreover, Rs 21 lakh sanctioned for decorative lighting at Mecca Masjid.
GHMC officials have informed that spraying and fogging will be taken up using portable fogging machines. Fogging will be taken up during 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily at major congregation places including mosques and Eidgahs. Special anti-larval teams will be constituted to cover mosques or Eidgahs. Weekly Anti larval measures will be intensified in and around all mosques and Eidgahs to prevent mosquito growth.
