Traffic woes to ease at Owaisi Hospital-Midhani Junction
Hyderabad: Finally, there will be respite from traffic congestions near Owaisi Hospital-Midhani junction as the civic authorities changed the road development plan. The previous plan under Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) suggested the construction of underpass and flyover on the junction. However, local public representatives opposed the idea since so many properties had to be acquired. Similarly, the authorities suspected difficulties in future for expansion of Metro Rail works.
The plan was then changed and the number of properties to be acquired came down. Officials informed that only eight properties would be acquired near Owaisi Hospital junction as per the new plan. As per the earlier plan, it was proposed that two flyovers would be constructed side by side from Owaisi to Midhani however, after the objections raised, it is decided to construct only one flyover for about 1.5 km.
The new flyover will start from 600 metres before the Owaisi Junction and land towards LB Nagar route at Midhani after 650 metres. However, instead of an underpass near junction a rotary would be constructed and a grade separator will facilitate the vehicles moving towards Santoshnagar.
The six lane flyover will be 10.5 metre in width. The engineering firm which bagged the tender for Rs 42 crore in the past will be given the responsibility of this work after 15 per cent EPC nod. Construction of the flyover at Owaisi Hospital junction will facilitate the movement of traffic here and people will get a respite from regular peak hour traffic jams. Similarly, there will be ease for the vehicles moving towards Shamshabad Airport from different parts of Old City via Owaisi, Chandrayanagutta and so.
