Gas cylinders distributed as part of Pradhana Mantri Yojana
Kukatpally: As part of ‘Pradhana Mantri Yojana’ the central government scheme, gas stoves, cylinder and pipes were distributed to residents of Viveknagar here on Friday. Kavya Harish Reddy the corporator of Balajinagar said, “Area people have to only pay money for cylinder, regulator and stove are free. One-cylinder costs Rs.700 and if people find it expensive they can pay it in installments of Rs 100 per month. This scheme will soon be started for BCs also, but as of now only SC and ST’s are given.”
The LPG gas cylinders distribution happened for the first time in Vivekanagar. The cylinders were supplied by the Namrata gas at Kukatpally. All the members of the community actively participated. Officials said that the idea was to reduce the dependency on wood improve the health of people. Srinivas Muthyapaga the president of Vivekanagar colony said, “We want them to use only cylinders and stoves and we will not let them suffer more. Also, the people who do not have ration cards, Aadhaar card the cylinders will not be distributed to them.”
Srividya, a beneficiary said, “I am delighted to receive this. It is a great help as we cannot afford to buy a cylinder. Also, the installment facility is good as many in our locality cannot afford to pay in one go.” Rambabu, another beneficiary said, “It is a dream come true. We have all along only heard of government schemes, but now we are reaping the fruits.”
