Vivekananda Nagar: With each new building coming up in Vivekananda Nagar and its surrounding areas, the water woes of residents are increasing multi-fold. Majority of the borewells have gone dry and residents are depending on water tankers. To add to the problems, residents complain that getting water tankers even from private operators is becoming difficult.

Although Vivekananda Nagar is huge in size, the facilities are not. Due to mushrooming of buildings, the groundwater levels have plummeted, and people have indiscriminately started going in for borewells.

Manyamma Muthyappa, old women said, “Before there used to be water in the area not anymore. I get water from the hand pumps and have to book a tanker every day. Women also added that her husband is a retired government employee but only Rs 2 lakhs rupees were given at the time of retirement after that not a single penny they have given us. And the ration card which they gave is of no use, she adds.

Kavya Harish Reddy the corporater of Balajinagar speaking to Hans India said, “We are trying hard to give them facilities for water as much as possible. And if there are anything which we couldn’t do will now be done shortly, says Kavya.
