Call for struggle to achieve implementation of 2016 Disabled Act

Chikkadpally: The Telangana State committee of the National Forum for Disabled Rights on Monday called for a nation-wide struggle demanding implementation of the 2016 Disabled Act.

Addressing a State workshop here, general secretary of the forum Muralidharan demanded special courts in all districts for the disabled and four per cent reservations for them in education and employment. He wanted special steps for the implementation of four per cent reservation for the disabled in the private sector.

Muralidharan put forth the demand for increasing the pension for the disabled to Rs. 5,000. Among those present were State general secretary Adivayya, treasurer R Venkatesh, TMVS State convener Ch Sayamma, Forum’s cultural wing State convener Chikka Harish Kumar, State office-bearers K Venkat, M Nagalakshmi, Raju, Upender, Syed Khaja, Asif Ali, Ganesh, Baswaraj, P Kavitha Reddy, Venkanna, Yashoda, besides leaders from Telangana districts.
