Uppal: The BMS ‘vijayotsava sabha’ (success meet) was organised on a grand scale in the local circle office in the presence of K Shankar,  who was recently elected BMS president in the GHMC polls.

Addressing the gathering, he pledged to strive for securing health cards to GHMC workers, as promised. Shankar questioned as to how it would be possible to develop Hyderabad as a world class city, as claimed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, without raising the strength of workers adequately.

He said following the rise in GHMC circles to 30 from 18 the number of officials would go up without a corresponding rise in the worker cadre. Hence, he demanded regularisation of the temporary workers. Shankar advised the GHMC workers to approach him if they faced any problems. Among those present were Sanitary Supervisor Sudarshan, Radhakrishna, Narsing Rao, Srinivas, Venkatesh, Jagan, Tinku Raj.
