Homemaker set ablaze by hubby

L B Nagar: A resident of Kakatiya Colony of L B Nagar area, Anita (35), was allegedly set on fire by her husband Raju on Tuesday following a family row. She was admitted to a private hospital in serious condition. The couple was married for 18 years. Raju doused Anita’s clothes with kerosene and set them on fire. It came to light late on Thursday. He is absconding after her relatives became aware of the incident. Investigation is on following a complaint lodged by her relatives, said L B Nagar CI Kasi Reddy.

According to the police, the family problems arose as Raju allegedly became addicted to liquor. They turned serious after Anita, a native of Bibinagar, gave birth to three daughters. Because of this Raju began harassing her, both mentally and physically. She had gone to parents’ house unable to bear the ill-treatment. Jangayya, brother of Anita, alleged that the incident occurred after she returned home.
