Senior scribe dies in car accident

Gajwel: Senior Journalist Prasanna Kumar who was working as staff reporter for a news channel for erstwhile Medak district died in car accident that took place on State highway -1 at Kodakandla village in Gajwel mandal on Friday. At the time of the accident, the TV journalist was travelling to Siddipet by his car bearing number AP 23R 1958 to distribute the wedding invitations for his brother’s marriage. 

The reporter died on the spot as the vehicle rammed into the wall of a culvert alongside the motorway and the front portion of the hatchback was mangled by the impact. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao rushed to Gajwel Area Hospital, where the dead body was shifted for post mortem, expressed his deep condolence to the family of the deceased and announced Rs. 5 lakh as ex gratia. Prasanna Kumar, was hailing from Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district. Several senior scribes expressed their grief over the death of the reporter. Gajwel police registered a case regarding the mishap.
