Fire destroys banana plantation

Pargi:  Fire broke out in banana plantation in Malemoniguda village near here on Sunday on account of dried banana leaves catching fire on account of sweltering heat.  However, on a tip off, fire brigade personnel rushed to the village and brought the flames under control. 

Noticing flames, farmers working in the adjoining fields alerted the fire brigade personnel about the mishap. According to the plantation owner Mujib, by the time the fire brigade personnel brought the flames under control, banana plantation in eight out of his 14 acres was consigned to the flames.
