Mohammed Cap Mart unveils prayer rugs

MCM Hyderabad: The 113 year old city's Mohammed Cap Mart (MCM) showroom on Sunday unveiled a recherché collection of prayer rugs also known as 'Musalla and Carpets a fortnight ahead of Ramazan. Known for its revered lineament in providing Musallas and carpets of international lineage and revered quality, MCM showcased a variety of carpets imported from reputed manufacturers of Saudi, Turkey, Iran and also Belgium.

Addressing the Press Conference at its showroom in Madina Circle, Managing Partner Ilyas Bukhari said that his firm welcomes the month of Ramazan with the finest collections of these rugs and carpets for the devout. He hoped that this timely launch will make people craving for quality material of this from across the world.  “The launch is timely, as carpets are in great demand during and before the month of Ramadan and we have the finest of them for everyone," he said.

From commercially produced carpel rolls that adorn the flooring in mosques to nearly a metre-long Musallas for individual use, a exquisite collection of plush and profusely designed carpets are available in textured patters, hand-woven designs to modern weaves in silk, nylon or polyster besides wool reflect elegance, skilled craft and meticulous workmanship, Carpets made of plastic are also available, he added. 

Most of this merchandise is not readily available in the city. While carpets are known for rendering ornamental charm, they bring along a share of health benefits. The prices of Musalla range starts from Rs 300 to several lakhs. The Kashmiri Musalla, which is hand woven starts from Rs 20,000 to Rs 5 lakhs. The Turkish Musalla starts from Rs 850 to Rs 3000 each. The Iranian and Saudi Arabian Musallas are amongst the preferred imported products. While the Belgian starts from Rs 550.

The local Musallas which are mostly machine made starts from Rs 300, a roll of Carpet for 10 members starts from Rs 3000, while a roll of Carpet for 50 members are Starts from Rs 10,500.
