Fire at Neknampur Lake still not put out

Neknampur: What started as a small fire has now turned into an inferno. The trees and bushes at Neknampur Lake, which is at the tail end of Ibrahim Cheruvu, caught fire on Saturday and is still burning. In spite of fire brigade pressing into service, fire has not been brought under control.

Madhulika Choudary of Druvansh who has been working for the conservation and protection of the lake said, “Fire department officials say that they do not have the equipment to control the fire.  A number of neem and sheesham trees so valuable to the eco-system are lost. This is a systematic clearing of greenery.”
