139 CCTV cameras installed in 13 villages

Maheswaram: Additional Director General (DG) Jitender said that the department has been promoting friendly policing in the State, as per the wish of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. 

“We are reaching out to the victims and trying to address their grievance,” the Additional DG said. He participated as the chief guest for the launching of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at Kothaguda village in Kandukurumandal. The police department installed 139 CCTV cameras with the cost of Rs 25 lakh in 13 villages.

Speaking on the occasion the Additional DG said that first time in the country, the Telangana government allocated Rs 1,000 in the budget for the police department. The government committed to provide modern vehicles and installation of CCTV Cameras, he said.

Police Commissioner of Rachakonda Mahesh Bhagavath said crime free society is possible when people also extend their cooperation to the police. A camera is equal to 100 police personnel, we can take the culprits into custody immediately, he said.

MLA Teegala Krishnareddy said the government in newly formed Telangana State focussed on law and order and taking several steps to improve the policing. He said Rs 30 lakh have been given for installation of CCTV Cameras from the MP and MLA lads. He assured that another Rs 5 lakh each will be given to Kandukur and Maheswarammandals from MLA funds.

Donors who donated Rs 50, 000 for the CCTV installation were felicitated in the programme.
