Incomplete nala works at Shapurnagar

Update: 2018-05-09 05:34 IST

Shapurnagar: ‘Thoughtless’ action of engineers in taking up unplanned open nala work adjacent to the main road of the town in the Suraram division has resulted in wasteful expenditure of Rs 66 lakh. They stopped the work, that too after completing 60 per cent, as the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation exerted pressure.

This was stated on Tuesday by former MLA Kuna Srisailam Goud, after inspecting the spot. He alleged that officials were wasting public money by their thoughtless actions. He conceded that although the nala work was useful for the people, it should have been done properly. Goud accused the engineers of not applying their mind to the task.

The former legislator claimed that the work taken up eight months back was still pending. He said the Manjira pipeline was laid across the nala which caused accumulation of garbage/sewage resulting in emanating of foul smell. This, Goud pointed out, was causing hardship to nearby shop-keepers.
Among those who accompanied the ex-MLA during the inspection were Srinivas, Rajesh, Anil, M R Choudhary.
