Dr Vivekanand launches chess tournament

Hyederabad: A five-day Malka Lakshmi Memorial All India Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament commenced at Palavi International School in Gandipet on Thursday.

Adviser to Govt of Telangana, Dr G Vivekanand was the chief guest. He inaugurated the tournament by lighting a lamp along with Pallavi Group of Schools Chairman M Komariah, Director (Operations) Srikanth and Principal Arogya.

Dr Vivekanand appreciated the management for promoting Chess tournament. He advised sports persons to have the spirit of competition.  Around 150 participants from across India, UAE and Qatar registered on the first day. A cash prize of Rs 4.05 lakh will be awarded to the winner on May 14.
