Encroachment at govt land stopped
Hyderabad: Following complaint that Government land opposite to Phoolbagh Chaman in Aliabad under Bandlaguda mandal was being encroached upon, the GHMC while issuing notice against undertaking any work, stopped it on Monday.
Following complaint by D Samyuktha Rani to Tahsildar of Bandlaguda who in turn wrote to GHMC officials about the ongoing encroachment, the GHMC sprung into action and stopped the ongoing work.
With its market value of about Rs 1 crore, the 1500 sq yds of land belonging to GHMC remained opened ever since the lavatories and other structures were closed about two decades ago. The land was also used for dumping garbage and for washing clothes by local washermen.
However about 20 years back, the GHMC demolished these structures as they longer catered to the needs of local population. Even though the land remained vacant, the walkers who visited Phoolbagh Chaman parked their vehicles in the open land.
However some vested interests tried to encroach upon the land by claiming the land with fake documents. They visited the place with proclane and henchmen ensured that no one disturb their work on Thursday night. They started to install pillars and when locals tried to stop them they challenged that they now own the land. The locals then decided to approach local police who gave allegedly ignored the development.
When the locals approached the GHMC and Revenue officials, they promised to stop the work but it continued during the night time. However on Monday, the GHMC officials took strong note of the development and issued notice to those indulging in encroachment and stopped the work.
