Farmers upbeat over receiving cheques

Maheshwaram: The farmers of Peruguda village are a happy lot after receiving cheques. On the fifth day of distribution of cheques and pattadar passbooks, the mood was upbeat at the village. Ravi, a farmer said, “It feels like we got independence. 

We no longer have to run after revenue officials for passbooks and other documents.” Echoing a similar sentiment, Laxmamma, said, “We no longer have to make the rounds of offices. It is a huge relief for my son and husband.”

Revenue officials, agricultural officer, local sarpanch and other officials distributed the cheques here on Monday. Officials assured the farmers that the government would also help them in marketing their produce as well. Yadaiah, a beneficiary said, “If the government can help in marketing it would be a big help as middlemen always enjoy the fruits of our labour.”

Mandal agricultural officer Venkateshwarlu said, “The government is supporting the farmers with Rs 8,000 that will go a long way in improving the lives of people and the government’s other schemes such as Mission Kakatiya and other schemes would enrich the lives of farmers.” Village sarpanch Sudhershanachary said that the people are happy and this year one expects a good crop.
