Cong alleges irregularities at Tahsildar office

Uppal: Even as the political drama was unfolding in Karnataka and the Congress party crying hoarse at the alleged political manipulations, closer home in Uppal, the Congress party workers reached the Tahsildar’s office demanding better functioning and transparency.   

The party in charge Bandari Laksma Reddy demanded immediate solutions to public problems. He said, “People are being harassed by the officials and have to make rounds of the office several times. On many occasions, they are asked to pay bribe,” he alleged. The local Congress leaders staged a dharna at Tahsildar’s office on Thursday and later submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar.

Among the several demands, prominent ones were the issuance of certificates to students, in time distribution of Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to the beneficiaries, payment of compensation to small traders who lost their shops at fire mishap at market happened on last December, action sought against surveyors who demand bribe to sanction maps to LRS applicants and transfer of staff who serving at office for a long period.

Uppal Circle Congress president Mushyam Srinivas said, “Some officials have been working at the same office for many years and act as if it is their fiefdom. There is no accountability and citizens are made to run from pillar to post even for simple documents that could be handed over the same day.”
Rajkumar Goud, a member of the party said that action should be taken against surveyors. 

“They have become a law unto themselves. Some people who applied for LRS and in spite of submitting all the documents are often asked to come to the office often.” Former chairman Mekala Siva Reddy, senior leaders Pogula Dayakar Reddy, Karra Bharathi, Anya Balakrishna, Rajkumar Goud, Susheelamma, Kopalli Balraj were present for the dharna.
