Victims’ families to appeal for justice in HC
Hyderabad: The families of victims, who died in the Mecca Masjid bomb blast in 2007, are gearing up to appeal in the High Court over the recent judgement of a NIA court acquitting all the accused in the case.
For making a strong appeal in the Court the families of the victims are taking the help from the legal experts, including retired judges, advocates and social activists. A body was also formed a few days back with the name ‘Young Advocates and Activists Legal Forum (YAALF)’, which has vowed to provide legal aid to the families of the victims who want justice in the case.
Retired Judges including Justice E Ismail and Justice B Chandra Kumar will be the guiding force to the YAALF who will be drafting a strong appeal on behalf of the family of victims. “Some of these young advocates have been fighting human rights cases and they would help the families appeal in the High Court.
A resolution was also passed in this endeavour recently on this issue and besides representation to the government, an appeal in the court would be made to fight for justice,” said Ilyas Shamshi, Reformers Front of India.
During a recently held meeting of social activists and legal experts, it was resolved that the representation should be made to the State government, besides going for an appeal against the acquittal of the accused in Mecca Masjid bomb blast case. About 46 members present on the occasion passed the resolution unanimously.
The meeting which was attended by Retired Judges E Ismail and B Chandra Kumar guided the advocates over the pros and cons in dealing with the case. Chandra Kumar opined that the aggrieved should also request the State government to take up the matter, within the ‘limitation period’. “Once started the legal fight should continue not only in High Court but also in Supreme Court,” he emphasised.
This meeting was presided over by Neera Kishore, president Telangana Praja Samithi and organised by SC, ST, BC Muslim Front, convenor, Sanaullah Khan. Retired IAS officer, Shafiquzzaman, Major Quadri of Help Hyderabad, Senior Advocate Osman Shaheed, Congress leader Uzma Shakir, Professor Anwar Khan, RTI activists Adnan Qamar and Kareem Ansari, social activist, Jasveen Jairat, leaders from Backward and Minority Communities Employees' Federation (BAMCEF) and several advocates were also present in this meeting.
