EPTRI holds first Telangana Biodiversity Festival
Hyderabad: ENVIS (Hub & RP), Environment Protection Training & Research Institute (EPTRI), Hyderabad has organised Telangana Biodiversity Festival for the first time in the country as an attempt of entering Asia Book of Records and Telangana Golden Book of Records as part of International Day for Biological Diversity on Tuesday Celebrations.
The Convention on Biological has announced the theme for 2018 as “Celebrating 25 years of Action for Biodiversity”, to highlight the progress made in the achievements of its objectives at the National and Global levels.
As part of creating awareness on the importance of Biological Diversity for sustainable future, youth from across the State of Telangana from different colleges participated in the event hosted by Sreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nagole, Hyderabad. The major areas addressed in the event were Biological Diversity, Food Diversity & Cultural Diversity.
The chief guest for the Telangana Biodiversity Festival were PK JHA, IFS, PCCF (MoEF) & (WI) & CWLW (FAC) Telangana Forest Department Raghuveer, IFS, PCCF (IT & Publicity) Telangana Forest Department B Srinivas, IFS, Director, (Urban Forestry), HMDA, Dr M Bhanja, IFS (Retd.), Advisor, EPTRI, Dr M Suneela, Scientist, ENVIS Coordinator, EPTRI, Dr Suresh Akella, Principal Sreyas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Dr. Vasuda Ashok, Adjuctor, Asia Book of Records, Ananthula Vinay Kumar Reddy, Chairman, Sreyas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Chinthala Ravindranath, Secretary, Sreyas Institute of Engineering & Technology
The students from various colleges participated by displaying the Posters on Biodiversity in their area of Interest. More than 300 participants across the State have participated. The activities included exhibiting of stalls on the Flora and Fauna, Traditional Telangana Foods, Local Biodiversity and Culture. Also performances such as tribal folk dances, Perini, different styles of bathukama, folk arts and ethnic songs.
