Kapra: Protesting against the suspension from jobs, 36 contract workers staged dharna at HP Gas Bottling Plant of Cherlapally on Monday.

HPCL Contract Workers Union president Rajender Kumar alleged that the management promised to reinstate the workers after restart of the plant at the time of blast that happened in September 14, 2017.But it failed to fulfill the promise, he criticised.

He said that the contract workers met Labour Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy and HP Gas Bottling Plant Manager but nothing yielded. Contract workers Madhusudan, Nagesh, Peeriah, Mahesh, Srinu were present. Rajender said that the workers, a majority of them put in several years of service have no other skills. They have families and children who are studying in school. It is the duty of the company to reinstate the workers.

Many did odd jobs but have not got good employment and want to be taken back. Ever since the 2014 fiasco, the workers are stranded and have not managed to get employment elsewhere.
