Update: 2018-05-26 08:20 IST

AS Rao Nagar: To stay prepared in an event of a fire accident, a safety programme was held at Poulomi Hospital here on Friday. Fire officer Vatti Shekar Reddy from the Fire Services Department spoke about the need for preparedness and mock drills. He said that one cannot predict a fire accident but there is nothing better than being prepared and prevention was always a best bet.

He also said that a lot of time is lost in deciding to call the fire station and it should be on top priority. He further added that many buildings especially commercial establishments do not follow fire safety norms and such awareness camps go a long way during fire mishaps.

A mock drill was conducted at the hospital. According to the Fire Service Department, any building that is 15 meters and above is a high-rise building and mock drills in such buildings are a must.
