‘Pregnapur road accident was due to human mistake’
Pregnapur: Highway Road Safety Authority Deputy General of Police Thenneti Krishna Prasad said the Saturday’s ghastly road accident that occurred at Pregnapur village of Gajwel mandal in Siddipet district which claimed 14 lives and injuring 26 others was due to human mistake violating the traffic rules.
The DGP inspected the spot on Monday along with R&B Engineer NC Ravindar Rao and Siddipet Additional DCP Narasimha Reddy and Gajwel Incharge ACP MAhendar Siddipet Traffic ACP Balaji and Gajwel CI Prasad and RTO Rameshwar Reddy and termed the incident in which several lives lost was quite unfortunate and enquired from the locals and officials about how the accident occurred at the spot involving four vehicle.
By the rear-end collision by the RTC bus, the truck hit the median and jumped to the other side of the road leading to the collision of oncoming container and the quails in a trice losing 10 lives on the spot, he said to the media.
Reiterating following the traffic rules was compulsory to make sure of everyone’s lives on the roads, the officer said the stretch from Preganpur to Kodakandla was vulnerable and prone to accidents. The mishap took place as the speeding bus driver was forced to overtake the truck from left side causing collision of four vehicles.
A comprehensive report will be submitted jointly by the R&B officials and Highway Road Safety Authority to the government after a holding a high level meeting regarding the road safety measurements and accident prone sign boards and possible changes to the dividers and educating people on following the road safety rules, said the DGP who also sought the public opinions of the vulnerable areas to curb the accidents.
