Residents living in stinky environment

Update: 2018-05-31 10:48 IST

Karwan: The schools in the city are about to open but the persistent sewerage flow at Nehru Children High School Road in Karwan is worsening day by day. The sewerage drain water has been overflowing from since past many days. Both the residents and school management has filed several complaints to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office.

Highlights:

•    The sewerage drain pipeline broke a month ago

•    No response from GHMC officials even after several complaints
•    Corporator Yadav says repair works will begin from Thursday

•    Nehru Children High School students have to walk through stinking sewerage

“There is hardly any response from the GHMC officials, they had sent two workers to clean the 200 mt long disrupted drain line which has been choked out a month ago. There is no noticeable change since it was cleaned, there is some major disruption in the line which needs an engineer and they must act to get it cleared,” said a school security guard Nagarjuna.

A resident near the school, Mohit said, “The overflowing drainage forms a stinky pool of water on the road causing severe inconvenience to the residents. Besides the foul smell we find it difficult to move in and out of our homes. Moreover, the schools in the locality are about to open.”

Karwan corporator M Rajender Yadav said, “It is because the drainage pipe was broken during the road works by Hyderabad Road Development Corporation limited (HRDCL). I spoke to superintend engineer of HRDCL and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), and they assured that the repairing work will start from Thursday (today).”
