A run to beat pollution

Gandipet:  As many as 1000 runners, participated in the 10K/5K/3K Corporate Greenathon Run organised by CII Telangana, in association with Pallavi International School and powered by Hyderabad Runners, here on Sunday.

The run was flagged of by Mohd. Azharuddin, and Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries, Government of Telangana. The other dignitaries present were Venkat Raman CSR CII, Abhijeet VP of Hyderabad Runners, Sushil Director Pallavi School Boddupal, Srikant, Director Pallavi Group of Schools, Arogya Mary, Principal, Pallavi International School, Gandipet, Mukeshwari PRO, Robin Michael Head Communications.

Azharuddin congratulated the organisers for conducting the run to raise awareness to beat pollution. He said that 1 million plastic bottles are used every minute, and we need to end this plastic pollution, He encouraged the audience to exercise regularly and keep fit. He also raised the concern of marine animals that were dying because of plastic pollution.

Speaking on the occasion Jayesh Ranjan said that recently GHMC has introduced ban on single use of plastic and encouraged everybody to follow the rule in word & spirit, the govt is always introducing new programmes for ensuring greener city, lake protection and all should participate & collaborate to make this schemes successful we should make atleast 15 or 20 family members committed to the above cause to make the programmes successful. He wished all the runners a happy running.

M Komaraiah, Chairman of Pallavi Group of schools thanked Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, Azaruddin, CII & Hyderabad runners for their active participation. As part of World Environment Day the run is aimed to reduce plastic pollution and bring awareness among the citizens. All the schools of Pallavi & Delhi Public School have a Birthday garden, wherein students on their birthday are encouraged to plant a sapling in the school premises.
