60 k plants to adorn West Zone

Serilingampally: A day ahead of World Environment Day, the West Zone zonal commissioner Harichandana called for a meeting in which it was decided to plant 60,000 saplings in the zone. Dy. Director urban biodiversity along with managers and staff attended the meeting.

In the  review meeting, component wise progress was discussed at length that included avenue plantation, open space plantation, lake bund plantation and public distribution targets. It is proposed to plant about 60,000 plants during this financial year. The zonal commissioner instructed all the officers to identify the open places, clean up the area and plant saplings. No open spaces should be left, said the commissioner.

The deputy commissioners were instructed to conduct ward level meetings with Resident Welfare Associations who are active in tree plantation. The GHMC staff would also make a note of the total requirement of seedlings and species.
