Unfinished road works pose threat to commuters during rainy season
Yaqutpura: The careless attitude of GHMC officials in Yakutpura division is causing severe difficulties for people commuting on the half-repaired roads. The contractors left the repaired roads without finishing the works like filling potholes and recarpeting of the exposed parts of the roads. And the GHMC officials are not fining the contractors for such shoddy work. The officials apathy is not confined to a particular area but spread across the Rein Bazar, Nasheman Nagar, Siddiqui Nagar,Lalitha Bagh, Gowlipura, Chatrinaka and others.
The engineering wing of the GHMC took up a rain water canal repair work in Ambika Nagar near Pocahamma temple to Patelnagar junction. After laying the new pipeline, they did not fill up the dug-out road after repair work was done, eventually many potholes developed on the stretch.
Almost half of the road is damaged and vehicular movement is severely affected. Bunga Shiva Kumar, a local, said that the unfinished work on the stretch would create more problems for commuters in the rainy season. He claimed that the repair works would further escalate difficulties of people.
GHMC south zone officials have assured that the road would be covered very soon. Zonal commissioner A Srinivas said that they would act as per the complaints by the locals. He said that civic department was striving hard to make life easy for citizens.
