TDP accuses TRS govt of ‘cheating farmers’
Vanasthalipuram: The Telugu Desam Party’s Ranga Reddy district unit on Monday accused the TRS government of ‘cheating farmers’ and ‘protecting the interests of landlords’, while failing to provide remunerative price and quality seeds, fertilizer besides insecticides to them.
The unit president Sama Ranga Reddy and six other leaders demanded immediate payment of grain procurement dues of Rs1,500 crore to farmers, as they were suffering because of lack of investment funds. The TDP leaders claimed that the investment assistance being provided to ryots would not benefit them, whereas remunerative price for turmeric and chilly and price bonus would.
They contended that the Rythu Bandhu scheme wouldn’t help the small and marginal ryots, while asserting that the investment assistance was an attempt to get benefit the TRS in the ensuing elections. ‘The Rythu Bandhu scheme had led to a clash of interest between ryots and tenant farmers’, the leaders alleged.
