Land marked for double bedroom, now in the hands of land sharks

Moula Ali: The 300 acres land at Meermahmmodsabgutta in Moula Ali is now become the hottest property as land sharks of all kinds are eyeing it. There also have been instances when a few realtors tried selling land.

In the latest fiasco, a few persons from Moula Ali and Malkajgiri tried selling the land but backed out in the eleventh hour when the buyers got a whiff that the deal was shady. Ram (name changed on request) said, “I almost bought the land but when I saw a few persons arguing with the one who was selling the land to us, we backed out.”

Two groups have been staking claim to the land. A group of Muslims claim that the land belongs to them, while another group say that there was a Hindu idol on the hill for years. One Nagaraju says, “There is no illegality in the case of construction of temples. The temples were constructed with due permission after having received a verdict from the court of law. The land was given to our ancestors during Nizam’s rule.”

The construction of Shivaji statue has now ruffled feathers and both groups are fighting for the land. Locals allege that many are selling the Wakf land. Repeated attempts to elicit views from the Waqf Board chairman proved futile, the standard answer given by the chairman was that he was busy with iftar parties.

The land of 300 acres which was earmarked for the construction of double bedroom houses has gone into the hands of outsiders. Despite many complaints to the Wakf Board, no action is taken says Haja, a resident of Moula Ali.
