Social worker seeks ban on plastic bags

Qutbullapur: Social worker Ravinder Mudiraj has taken upon himself the task of getting plastic covers banned in week-end markets and shops. He persists with the objective at a time when some among the current generation takes it in the right spirit, while other tends to ignore, as they sport a surprised look. His main aim in taking up the drive is to fight till a problem is solved and inform people.

As a part of his mission, Ravinder submitted a representation during the ‘Prajavani’ programme in Qutbullapur GHMC office seeking a ban on use of plastic covers there. On Wednesday he called on  available corporators Ravula Sheshagiri (Gajularamaram), Mantri Satyanarayana (Suraram), Shantisri (Subashnagar) and submitted representations to them with a plea to take up a drive against the use of plastic in their wards, colonies and weekly markets, particularly in shops selling mutton, chicken and vegetables, by using mikes, pamphlets and ‘dappu’ to drive home the message.

The social worker told The Hans India that he has been taking up the campaign in the interest of people’s welfare. ‘Everyone should cooperate in ensuring that the ban on plastic covers to make colonies plastic-free becomes successful.’
