RWAs again knock on Ministry of Defence door on reopening of roads in Secunderabad cantonment
Secunderabad: Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) and two other associations Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads (OSCAR) and Federation of Northeastern Colonies FNECS once again written to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) about the Local Military Authority’s (LMA) reluctance to reopen the roads in Secunderabad cantonment.
S Chandrashekar of OSCAR says, “The SCB needs to take the lead role but there is no initiative from their part. More than a dozen roads are still out of bounds for the common man.” The letter to MoD reads that its intervention is essential to reopen the closed roads as LMA have not yet announced the schedule of reopening or restrictions of any roads-in-fact there is total silence maintained by them over the issue. It also mentions that the categorical orders of AHQ and MoD have not been followed even after 15 days and requested to take immediate action to ensure that the closed roads are reopened.
“Even SCB is silent about schedules and restrictions. No queries on the subject are being answered,” added S Chandrasekhar, Founder of OSCAR. Similarly, Federation of Northeastern Colonies FNECS, also submitted a letter to CEO of Secunderabad Cantonment Board demanding them to give their feedback to the MoD by doing an objective assessment of the situation that helps to open the closed roads.
