Jharasangam: People generally opt for modern vocational courses which provide employment. In contrast, Ayyappagari Shivarankar who preferred Vedic education to the employable courses with a missionary zeal, he completed four-year Vedic education at Veerashaiva Agama School in Srisailam. He finished Pravesha, Vara, Pravara courses to become a qualified priest. He was also qualified in the written examination conducted by Endowment Department of Telangana.

He approached the district Collector in February, this year, seeking appointment as a priest in Mallana temple in his native place. Satisfied with his candidature, the Collector directed the Endowment department officials to take appropriate action regarding his appointment as priest in the temple. But, there is no communication for the Endowment department from four months. “I don’t know what happened. I learnt that some officials in the department prefer someone who can bribe them,” alleges Shivasankar. He got support from other priests, who demanded the government to appoint qualified priests in the temples across the State.
