Two-day south zone abilympics event concludes

Tarnaka: The two-day regional abilympics for the south zone hosted at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, which was inaugurated on Thursday concluded on Friday. The two-day event was organised to assess the skillset of differently-abled participants in 10 vocational skill trades. Selected candidates will take part in the National Competitions that will be held in Delhi later this year.

The inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Information Technology (IT); president of the function Prof. E Suresh Kumar, vice chancellor, EFLU; Guests of Honour M Jagadeeshwar, principal secretary, Department of Women Development and Child Welfare and NPS Singh, chairman, Bakelite Hylam Ltd; Dr Jitender Aggarwal, CEO and secretary general; NAAI, Dr Sudhir Gupta, vice president, NAAI; and coordinators of the enabling unit of the EFLU.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh emphasised the need to conceptualise and offer need-based skill-development and entrepreneurship programmes that facilitate differently-abled persons hone their employability skills. Prof Suresh urged the differently-abled participants to accept challenges in a positive manner.
