Kukatpally population density to double by 2041

Hyderabad: In what can be termed as startling forecast of the future trends as far as population and employment, the latest study by HMDA reveals that the pressure on land is going to grow multi-fold especially in Kukatpally and Mindspace. The fifth technical advisory committee meeting on ‘contextual refinement and revalidation’ of Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) model for HMA was held here on Friday. The meeting was organised by LEA Associates South Asia Pvt Ltd in joint venture with LEA International Ltd. 

The main focus of the meeting was on four tasks - contextual refinement and revalidation of CTS model; preparation of immediate, short, medium and long-term plans; resource mobilization and capacity building; holding consultations and workshops with user groups. Besides reviewing the interaction patterns of major towns with Hyderabad, revalidation and calibration of CTS -transportation model, carrying capacity analysis of road networks/areas to define density and height levels the 5th technical advisory committee presented data on reassessment of population and employment forecasts of Hyderabad and development of alternative population and employment distribution scenarios.

The data forecasts the comparative analysis of population with employment for 2041 by taking 2016 as the reference year. The data says that the employment – including agriculture, industry and service sector which is at 4.67 in 2016 would grow to 9.25 in 2041 in Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA). Mindspace is slated to be the fastest growing and newly developing area, while Kukatpally and Vanasthalipuram are said to fasted newly-developing residential areas. Mythrivanam is to become the core area for Metro Rail interchange.

The Kukatpally population is to reach 3.72 lakh by 2041 from 1.58 lakh in 2016 and the population density will increase to 77,500Persons/ Km2from 33,076. Persons/ Km2and the employee density will increase to 16,600 employees/ Km2from 7,008 employees/ Km2. The Mindspace area population is to reach 1.88 lakh from 0.72 lakh and the population density 22,650. Persons/ Km2from8674Persons/ Km2and the employee density will increase to 53,000 employees/ Km2from17,190 employees/ Km2.
