Overflowing drains, big cause of worry

BN Reddy Nagar: The residents of Gowthami Nagar and Saheb Nagar are a worried lot as the rains are about to start and the overflowing drains are creating inconvenience. The civic authorities as well as elected representatives have been assuring the people but works on the ground have not started say locals. 

After repeated requests from the people, corporator M Lakshmi Prasanna Rammohan Goud on Sunday instructed officials to solve over flow problem of open drainage in between Gowthami Nagar and Saheb Nagar. She along with engineers visited the drainage. Corporator supervised silt clearance works.

DE Bhadru Naik, AE Sainath Goud, Gowthami Nagar president Mallesh were present. Raju, a local said, “I have been living here for the last eight years and every year during the monsoons, civic officials come and do some work. It is always cosmetic in nature. We are fed up and want permanant solutions for the overflowing drains. 

Another redident Hemalatha said we have three portions to rent out but noone is willing to take due to the filth and overflowing drains. The residents claim that they have contacted and visited the civic authorities several times and always return dissapointed. It is either the problem of lack of funds or contractors not interested in taking up works.
