Parigi: Vikarabad district BJP vice-president Khanapuram Venkataiah on Tuesday said the ruling TRS benefited the rich practically doing nothing to benefit the farmers at the field level.

The BJP activists staged a protest in front of the Tahsildar office seeking immediate rectification of mistakes in the pattadar passbooks under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.

Addressing a gathering in this connection, he said the state government had been issuing statements that it had done everything for the farmers without even issuing the passbooks to at least 50 per cent of the farmers.

Condemning the highhandedness of the state government, the BJP leader said that the state government went on record that it would rectify the mistakes in the passbooks within 20 days but nothing much happened even 30 days after making such proclamations.

The only rich are being benefited at the field level, he said pointing out that the benefit to the farmers from the scheme is almost zero.

The government entrusted the task to the revenue department, which is suffering from severe staff shortage, he said adding that it is resulting in government falling short of meeting the targets.

The government decision overburdened the revenue staff, he said. Moreover, he lamented that the state government has been issuing statements as it liked without actually taking into consideration the field level problems.

BJP mandal party president Narender Goud, general secretary Mahipal, Kisan Morcha president Karunayya and other local leaders took part in the protest programme.
