188 CCTV cameras installed in Ibrahimpatnam town
Ibrahimpatnam: As part of Nenu Saitham and community CCTV programme, 188 CCTV cameras have been installed in Ibrahimpatnam police station limits here on Tuesday.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat along with MP Bhongir Dr Bura Narsiah Goud & Ibrahimpatnam MLA Manchi Reddy Kishan Reddy inaugurated the cameras. The total cost incurred was Rs 38,52,000. The cameras will cover nine villages including 30 cameras in Ibrahimpatnam town.
At present, a total of 358 cameras were working including old cameras and there was a need to install 150 cameras within a month, informed officials. One CCTV camera was equal to 100 policemen and it would be working round-the-clock, they added. Recently most of the cases were solved using CCTV cameras and it would be useful for identification of criminals, said a police officer.
There are two types of cameras; Nenu Saitham where individuals were installing cameras covering their residence and community CCTVs where community funds were raised and cameras were networked with police control room.
In all the villages of Alair mandal the CCTV cameras have been installed and one control room has been set up to monitor the installed cameras. Public were weapons of police if they co-operate with us there would be no need of lathies and weapons, said Bhagwath.
MP Narsaiah told that the State government has arranged CCTVs for crime-free society due to which especially chain-snatching cases have decreased. Police were marching ahead due to new technology. All the donors were felicitated for their generous fund raising for CCTV installation. ACP Ibrahimpatnam presided over the programme.
