Telangana CS directs Collector to make all arrangements for Haritha Haram phase-IV

Sangareddy: To make the State’s one of the prestigious projects ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haaram’ a huge success, Chief Secretary SK Joshi directed the District Collectors to prepared with the plans for the fourth phase of the plantation programme for this year in order to protect the environment and to curb the pollution and to increase the green cover to 33 per cent in the state.

The CS on Tuesday held a video conference with all the bureaucrats from his office in Hyderabad and discussed about the plans and preparations and directed them to make sufficient plants ready for this year to reach the target with the coordination of all the departments.

The CS said plantation of nearly two crore saplings of palm and dates on the bunds of tanks and water bodies including fifty per cent fruit trees and groves was the target for this phase. The district level and mandal level officials were ordered to educate the people in rural areas about the importance of protection of environment and participation in plantation in their villages. The necessary steps should be taken for the supply of plants from narsaries and forest departments and their protection in their districts.

He said the work should be commenced at urban forest blocks from the second week of July in the respective districts. The video conference was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests PK Jha and District Collector Venkateshwarlu and other forest officials.
