Bankers asked to extend crop loans for kharif, rabi

Vikarabad:  District Collector Omar Jaleel advocated banks to extending timely loan to farmers for reap bumper harvest and progress in life. Therefore, he wanted the bankers to extend loans to farmers according to the targets fixed for kharif and rabi. 

He was speaking at the district-level bankers’ committee meeting held at Collectorate on Thursday.  During 2017-18, some banks extended crop loans up to 60 per cent while some other banks could not extend loans properly, he said that the bankers not to trouble the farmers in the name of rules and sanction crop loans.

He sought a report from the bankers on the loans extended to farmers and various welfare departments. He asked the district agriculture officer to gather information about cotton farmers in the district and asked him to ensure that they get crop loans without any glitch. He asked the bankers to extend loans to farmers before July 15 as the farmers have to insure their crops. DRDO Johnson, RBI AGM Ganeshan, SBI RM Durga Prasad, Andhra Bank RM Ramana and officials of the welfare department took part.
